This training is for Aboriginal workers who engage in supportive and healing relationships with Aboriginal clients and communities that have experienced family violence, child abuse, adult or child sexual assault.

Description:

Establishing & maintaining ethical and supportive professional relationships can be difficult and challenging when working with Aboriginal communities where the worker is also a community member. This workshop provides the opportunity to explore these issues in detail, and to work towards best practice in establishing safe and client-focused boundaries. Topics covered will include: boundary violations and crossings in trauma work, negotating good supportive practice, dual relationships, ethical decision making and conduct, and managing secondary trauma.
