Courses
ECAV provides a range of courses for Aboriginal workers from NSW Health or health funded community controlled services, other government and non-government organisations and community members. First priority is given to NSW Health workers and health funded community controlled services with some courses prioritising community members. Our courses reflect current research and are developed in consultation with the Aboriginal Communities Matter Advisory Group and Aboriginal workers and community members. Courses are delivered based on adult learning principles, to incorporate participants' diverse perspectives, knowledge and experience.
Some courses are VETAB accredited and some others are aligned with National Units of Competencies. The VETAB accredited courses are identifiable with the symbol shown.
ECAV is a delivery site for NSW Health, which is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) under the National Training Framework (NTF). Vocational Education and Training (VET) is linked to nationally endorsed competency standards.
ECAV is currently developing a number of other competency-based training courses, which will be available for assessment once they are posted on the NSW Health RTO Scope. Watch the course calendar and outlines for details.
Other ECAV courses are specialist in nature and designed for NSW Health employees in designated specialist positions such as Aboriginal Family Health workers.
If there are more places than applicants available for these courses, priority is given to Aboriginal workers in NSW Health services or health funded community controlled services, unless otherwise indicated in the target group outlined for the course.
